Summary

Products have various properties that must be identified to ensure specific functions are executed correctly. Below is an overview of these properties and the steps to manage them effectively.

Stock Deduction

Stock Deduction defines how products are deducted from stock during operations.

Dropdown Options:

  1. PICKABLE – Products are deducted from stock when picked quantities are recorded in the Pick List.
  2. NONPICKABLE – Products are automatically deducted based on the Bill of Materials (BOM).
  3. CONSUMABLE – Products are considered "used" once removed from MCD with a Material Request Form (MRF).

Material Cost Category

The Material Cost Category is a dropdown field that can be populated when creating or editing a product.

Dropdown Options:

  1. Direct – Select if the stock deduction is PICKABLE or AUTOPICKED.
  2. Indirect – Select if the stock deduction is CONSUMABLE.
  3. Consumable – Also select for CONSUMABLE stock deductions.

Minimum and Re-Manufacture Stock Quantities

These fields help track inventory thresholds.

  1. Minimum Stock Quantity: The lowest acceptable stock level.
  2. Re-Manufacture Stock Quantity: The stock level that triggers re-manufacturing.

Field Requirements:

  1. Both fields accept only whole numbers greater than or equal to zero.
  2. These fields are optional.

  3. Part Editor

Steps

  2. Click New to open the product creation screen.
  3. Fill in all required fields (marked with an asterisk * and a red bar on the left).

Material Cost Category

Ensure it aligns with the stock deduction type:

  1. Direct for PICKABLE or AUTOPICKED.
  2. Indirect or Consumable for CONSUMABLE.

Minimum and Re-Manufacture Stock Quantities

  1. Enter valid whole numbers (≥ 0) for both fields.

Replenish Dropdown

  1. If Replenish is "Fitted by Customer" or "Supplied by Customer to Factory," set Sourcing to "Supplied to Customer."
  2. Click OK.
  3. Result: New product is created.

Sourcing Dropdown Guidelines

  1. Regular:
  2. Raw materials that can be sourced from any supplier in the market.
  3. Regular SC (Special Circumstances):
  4. Raw materials that can be sourced from any supplier/distributor, but there is an OEM preference by HMWS because their product is so much aligned to our applications.
  5. Custom Manufactured:
  6. Items that must be purchased from sources who comply with the specifications of HMWS customers.
  7. One Source Supply:
  8. Raw materials that have one single identified source supplier due to the supplier's own effort.
  9. One Source Supply SC:
  10. Raw materials that have one single identified source supplier because HMWS has partnered with the supplier in one way or another (i.e., invested in tools, dies, research & development, etc.).
  11. Inhouse:
  12. A raw material that was originally purchased from an external source but has become manufactured in-house using an HMWS design.
  13. Supplied By Customer:
  14. Raw materials that are sourced by the customer and shipped to HMWS to be integrated into the customer's ordered product.
  15. Economy Sourced:
  16. Raw materials available in the market with a preferred HMWS supplier because of the extremely competitive price offered.
  17. Tooling Required:
  18. Raw materials available with variations in the market, where it is important to purchase the exact variant that matches the tooling development in HMWS.

Notes:

  1. If Stock Deduction changes from PICKABLE or AUTOPICKED to CONSUMABLE, clear the Material Cost Category field.
  2. If Stock Deduction changes from CONSUMABLE to PICKABLE or AUTOPICKED, update Material Cost Category to Direct.
